General Information

Fyre-Tec - Steel Windows

General Construction

All Fyre-Tec architectural steel windows are manufactured from first grade materials. Our quality control procedures assure the end user a product designed for many years of productive service.

Fyre-Tec products are distributed throughout the United States and internationally to help meet local building and fire code requirements.

Material

Material
Windows are fabricated from galvanized cold rolled steel sections. These proprietary sections are roll-formed from prime galvanized steel into shapes designed to impart strength and durability. Additionally, the tightly formed sections allow the Fyre-Tec window to offer a narrow site-line allowing for maximum glass (lite) area while maintaining the strength necessary for a rated window.

Finish

Finish
Steel window components are thoroughly cleaned and phosphitized prior to powder coating with a selection of standard colors (See standard colors offered on this site). All components are painted after welding and prior to assembly.

Frame Construction

Frame Construction
Frame members are fabricated to form tight miter joints, secured by welding. Sill members incorporate weeps to allow for water drainage. Frame members accommodate optional framing and trim attachments (fins, channels or casing trim).

Panel & Insert Construction

Panel & Insert Construction
Panel and insert members are fabricated with tight miter joints and secured by welding. They incorporate pile-type weather-stripping with an integral sealing fin around the entire perimeter. Meeting rail members incorporate full length mechanical interlocks which engage in the closed position. Horizontal sliding inserts incorporate an adjustable steel ball bearing roller assembly at each bottom corner.
Single-hung panels are supported on both jamb sides with heavy-duty spring balances. Fixed inserts pocket into frame members and are secured in place with anchoring clips. Muntins, when required, are welded in place to become an integral part of the panel or insert.

Glazing

Glazing
Windows accommodate single strength to 11/16 inch insulated approved glazing material. Glazing material is held in place with full-length formed steel snap-in retainers. (See glazing options offered on this site.)

Screens

Screens are fabricated from roll-formed aluminum sections screens, keyed in the corners and then painted to match window frames. Screen cloth is available in fiberglass.

Uses

Rated and non-rated products are suitable for industrial, commercial, institutional, school and residential use. Fire rated models are also suitable as lot line windows.

Inspection

Window members and assemblies are inspected by the window manufacturer at the factory to assure operational and dimensional quality assurance.

Installation

Installation of Fyre-Tec steel windows has been simplified. Sub-frame mounting or fin system mounting kits are supplied with windows. Retrofit or new construction installation may be accomplished by prepositioning the head channel and exterior jam angles, inserting the window and then entrapping it by installing the interior jam and sill angles. Installation of our steel windows in new construction may be accomplished by affixing the provided mounting fin system in one of four positions to the window frame and then fastening the fin and window in place to the construction framing. The fin is then covered by subsequent construction. Installation details and drawings are depicted elsewhere on this site.

Erection

Installation of Fyre-Tec steel windows by other than factory trained representatives shall be in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. All steel window frames shall be installed plumb, level and square without bending, twisting, or otherwise distorting window members. Installation instructions are furnished with each window.
